Choosing a diamond is a personal decision, which can be a challenge to make with such a complex product.
The best way to begin is to learn about the different factors that directly determine the overall quality of each stone (known as the 4C's) as well as our exclusive Angara Rating. Then, consider which elements are most important to you (and to her). That will help you choose just the right diamond.
The 4 C's
Cut
A diamond's cut - that is, the proportions and symmetry of the facets on the stone's surface - is an important part of determining its brilliance and fire. That's because a diamond's ability to reflect light is so strongly affected by the precision used to cut its facets. Learn more
Color
A diamond's color really refers to its relative lack of color, at least in the traditional "white" diamond. Diamond color is graded on a scale of "D" - colorless - to "Z", which is light yellow. Learn more
Clarity
A diamond's clarity grade measures its internal and external imperfections - how many and what kind. Clarity is typically graded on a scale from F, or flawless, through VVS (very, very slightly included), through VS (very slightly included) and SI (slightly included) down to I (Imperfect). Carat weight
A carat is a unit of weight, not size. A 2-carat diamond in one shape may not look the same as a 2-carat diamond of another, even if they weigh the same amount. 1 carat equals .200 grams. There are 100 "points" per carat. Learn more
