Remember, the right jewelry is as important as the wedding dress, because the dress is worn for one night only, but the jewelry and the photos last a lifetime.

• Let jewelry be the last thing that you shop for, after wedding dress, veil and headpiece.
• Try to wear a low neckline when trying out different necklaces.  The impression it makes will be clearer.
• The simplicity or ornamentation of your dress decides the type of jewelry.  Avoid overkill.
• Classic bride is an alternative that can be 'colored' up with gemstone jewelry.
• For that heirloom effect, see if you could ask your mother or grandmother for a 'special' piece.
• Adorn a dainty bracelet that goes with your earrings.  Go for this when you have a strapless gown and don't want to wear a necklace.
• Don't forget the bridesmaids; they deserve a token of appreciation.

Here are some color guidelines:

White Dress - Perfect with silver finish metals or pure white pearls.

Between ivory and white- gold or silver finish, and pure white pearls, also gemstone jewelry that contrasts sharply.

Ivory Dress- Perfect with ivory pearls, yellow gold finish.

Champagne or Dark Ivory- Perfect with yellow gold finish, ivory pearls.  For that trendy look, try champagne diamonds; so hot nowadays.

All other colors- Go for matching gemstone jewelry, especially gemstone and diamond jewelry, for that sparkly effect.

Additional Tips:

Wedding shoes: It is tradition to match them with the gown color.  Whether heels, or flip flops or sandals, ensure they are well fitting.  Do this well in advance.

Handbag: Plan ahead as to what you may need on the day.  Odd items like phone, tissues or lipstick are best stashed in a clutch or small bag that someone may carry for you.

Additional wraps: These make for that touch of elegance, particularly for chilly weather.  Also, draped properly, they make excellent photos.
