Green Natural Color Diamonds

Green diamonds are one of the rarest of the natural colored diamonds, second only to the red diamonds. The intensity of color is the single most important factor. As the color becomes more intense, these are referred to as fancy diamonds. Green diamonds often contain traces of yellow and gray.

Light colored diamonds themselves are very rare, but as the color becomes more intense and comes close to intense hues, these diamonds are given the stature of a collectible.

The "Dresden diamond" is the largest natural green diamond at 40.7 carats. Green diamonds are hugely desired. These days many diamonds are given irradiation and heat treatment to give them green color.
