Like fine wine, women only get better with age. Joan Collins, 81-year old British actress and columnist, is a perfect example for this veteran axiom. During an investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace, she was honored and awarded as Dame Commander of the British Empire by current Duke of Britain, Prince Charles and Prince of Wales. More specifically, Joan earned her damehood last week for charity and commendable contributions in field of Arts.

It was a grand day for the entire family. Joan was accompanied by her husband Percy Gibson, daughter Tara and son Sasha Newley. Collins expressed immense joy and enthusiasm after receiving the accolade and exclaimed, “I’m so thrilled. It is extraordinary. It’s something I never, ever would’ve expected. I’m terribly, terribly honored. I really am. And I hope I can live up to what being a dame means. ”Later, she illustrated her penchant for acting, “It wasn’t anything I ever aspired to. I just wanted to be a jobbing actress, a working actor and somebody who could still perform.”

Keeping up with her glamorous and chic persona, Joan Collins looked fabulous in her white flared hem accentuated with few black and white accessories. She chose to manifest sovereignty through her attire and opted for a stylish white hat with a black net veil, a pair of black silken gloves, a thick waistband, and dashing feminine heels. Further, she added glitz and shine with a diamond and pearl statement necklace around her neck and a stand out pair of floral white studs. Undoubtedly, she appeared to be a true fashion icon, representing women of all ages. A “Dynasty” star with no age imperfections.

Following an exciting afternoon ceremony, Joan celebrated her achievement lavishly, partying with close family and friends later that evening. Not just for her achievement, she stood out through her feminine charm in a body-hugging black gown topped by a pinkish off –shoulder, satin bow on the right side and her DBE medal pinned on the other side. No wonder, Joan decorated herself with dazzling white embellishments on both ears and wrists.

It is a sigh of relief for Collin’s fan enthusiasts to know that becoming a Dame does bring a closure to her acting career, end of an era. However, her career does not end there.
