There is nothing more gorgeous than an exquisite engagement band that’s embellished with glittering sapphires. You agree, right? Available in almost every hue of the rainbow, this jewel can turn your outfit from simple to chic in a matter of seconds.

But how to maintain your sapphire engagement ring’s glittering appeal for years to come?

By following the care tips mentioned below, of course!

But First…What Is Sapphire?

A symbol of loyalty, fidelity and truth, among other things, the sapphire is a precious stone that’s prized worldwide for its luxurious hue. It is exceptionally durable and features a 9/10 rating on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness. What’s more, the stone is also known for its unmatched rarity and September birthstone status.

Needless to say, these USPs have greatly enhanced the jewel’s allure and have made it one of the most sought-after engagement ring gem options available today.

Did You Know?

Ancient Hebrews believed that the Ten Commandments (which God gave Moses) were originally engraved on sapphire.

4 Steps to Take Care of a Sapphire Engagement Ring

Step #1: Soak the Piece in a Soap Solution

To prepare the same, add a few drops of mild soap to half a cup of lukewarm water and mix. Avoid using hot water as the high temperature could damage the gem. Let your ring soak in the water for 20 minutes before moving on to the next step. This will loosen the dirt and ensure an easier cleaning process.

Step #2: Gently Scrub Your Stunner

With the help of a soft-bristled toothbrush, gently scrub the dirt away from your accessory. Pay attention to the edges of the gem and its setting as that’s where most of the dirt resides.

Step #3: Wash and Dry Your Accessory

Next, place your jewellery item under running water to wash away any residual soap, and then dry the same with a soft lint-free cloth.

Step #4: Let Your Ring Air Dry

After you wipe your band, leave it aside to air dry before storing or wearing it again.

Note: Do not place your piece in an extremely hot space or under direct sunlight as that could damage the gem or make it lose its colour.

If in Doubt…
