Thank you for your message. 14K Gold has 58.5% pure gold combined with other metals like copper. When copper might have reacted with skin acids and created a grey black mark on the skin. The grey black coloration/mark can be removed by warm water. The platinum setting has 95% pure platinum combined with other noble metal mixtures. It is hypoallergenic.
